There is a lot of BAD ADVICE Out There Regarding Youth Athletic Injuries

What’s False:

  • Just “rest” and your injury will get better

  • Ice it tonight and then you’ll be ready to get back out to practice tomorrow

  • Just take some pain meds or muscle relaxants and it will go away

The Truth is:

  • Resting doesn’t change anything. It might make you feel better in the short term, but the pain will return and the injured area is now compromised.

  • Icing isn’t enough. It reduces pain and swelling temporarily.

  • Pain meds mask the symptoms. Reducing discomfort doesn’t treat the actual problem.
